Mentor Expectations:
The success of this program is due to the generosity of SGIM members willing to share time, insight, and experience with other SGIM members. Please review the following expectations to better understand your role as a mentor.
- Mentees will select a mentor based on a compatibility score. Your mentee will be responsible for inviting you to be their mentor and initiate communication.
- If a mentor is not selected by a mentee by May 2, 2025, they may be administratively matched. If a mentor does not respond to their mentee by May 9, 2025 they may be removed from the program.
- Mentors are expected to meet with their mentees at least once during the 2025 SGIM Annual Meeting at a mutually convenient time.
- Many mentors attend their mentee’s oral and/or poster presentation(s) to provide support and feedback. Please indicate if you are willing to provide feedback in your mentor profile.
- After your initial meeting, you and your mentee are welcome to meet again throughout the conference or use the SGIM One-on-One Mentoring platform to chat or schedule meetings afterward.
- The mentor/mentee connection in the SGIM One-on-One mentoring platform will close on June 13, 2025; however, you are welcome to keep in touch.
- We ask all mentors and mentees to complete a post-program survey about their experience in the One-on-One Mentoring Program.
